About the International Webcasting Association

WHO WE ARE - The International Webcasting Association was formed in 1996 to create a forum for all companies involved in this digital revolution to promote webcasting and streaming media. Founding members include early visionaries from companies such as Akamai, Apple Computers, Globix, Intervox Communications, Microsoft, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, and Real Networks. Our membership includes portal websites, streaming service providers, content creators, educators, entrepreneurs, and user companies.

OUR GOAL - The IWA's goal is to keep our members informed, connected, and better prepared for the changes that are an integral part of the technology. We support the growth of individual member companies from their investment strategies to legal and regulatory issues to education through key research studies. Examples of these initiatives are meetings initiated with the Federal Communications Commission and presentations to Congress and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration. (NTIA)

HOW WE OPERATE - We stay connected and disseminate information through regular meetings in person and via teleconference calls, functions and meetings at industry conferences, our website, list-serves, and live, Internet webcasts. We recognize that as the technology changes, so do our members' needs. We are committed to providing member benefits based on what our members tell us they find most valuable. We encourage our members to participate in IWA functions and on IWA committees. Just like the Internet, we are interactive. Communication goes both ways at IWA.

OUR VALUE - IWA membership provides tremendous value to participating members:

  • Professional-interest Electronic Newsletters with industry news, calendar of upcoming events and member discounts for IWA members.
  • Webcasts from participating IWA member businesses.
