The IWA Newsletter is BACK after a holiday hiatus! This is shaping up to be an exceptionally exciting year for the IWA and for our industry. We are attracting a lot of new members, and there seems to be more interest in our sector than ever before! If you have not joined with us yet, now is a perfect time.

The IWA is Becoming a Truly International Organization!

The IWA is changing in some exciting ways. Recently, the executive committee approved a new plan to revamp the bylaws of the association and create a clean and easy way to integrate what's happening in the US with the exciting IWA things happening in the UK and elsewhere. The plan calls for a new regional board to be elected in the US, as well as in the UK and other regional chapters, with a unified general board of directors to oversee the International organization. If you are interested in serving the IWA in some capacity, please let us know. We are only limited by the energy and creativity of our members!

Kendra Initiative Cross-Media Metadata Summit

There is an exciting event coming up in a few weeks in London that could help shape our industry and how users find content online. The IWA and Kendra Initiative cordially invite you to participate in the Kendra Initiative Cross-Media Metadata Summit for Content Description, Visibility, Search and Discovery, to be held at the Frontline Club, London W2, Friday, March 9 2007 9:30 to 5:30 PM GMT. All you have to do to know things are heating up in our sector is to look at the events listing on the IWA website! IWA Europe AWARDS 2007

The IWA Europe is proud to announce the IWA Europe Awards Ceremony - "The IWAs". After the success of previous events, we decided to ask members to nominate fellows from the industry for a distinguished award.

Winners received an IWA trophy.

Joining the ranks of previous winners is a great honour and will bestow kudos and admiration from your peers as well as publicity from the media.

Uploading digital media is 10 to 15 times slower than downloading and that imbalance gets in the way of sharing. "The system is a hangover of the old mass media days," said Paul Saffo, a technology analyst in Palo Alto, Calif. "Some consumers are uploading a tremendous amount of information and that's the thing the establishment just doesn't get.
