The IWA Welcomes New Member Stream The World

Stream The World specializes in the development of rich Internet media streaming technologies. Their research and development teams are dedicated to simplifying web audio and video broadcasting for both the content provider and its visitors. The company proposes a simple turnkey solution for content providers, along with a ‘no software or no plug-in’ approach for users. In early 2005, after two years of excessive beta testing, Stream The World introduced its innovative and proprietary audio streaming technology, which operates transparently behind Macromedia’s Flash Player(TM). Streaming Media East 2006 Sees Significant Growth in Attendance Over 2005

The streaming media industry is alive and well and growing, if the success of Streaming Media East 2006 is any indication. StreamingMedia.com reported growth in attendance to this year's conference of over 20% over last year. Conference sessions covered issues ranging from practical applications of various streaming technologies and best practices for webcasting to an increasing number of revenue models for selling advertising in streaming media.

The expo hall was full, as well, with many industry leaders showcasing their products and services along with a significant number of newcomers to the industry. While there was no shortage of enterprise solutions on display, one noticable development was the increase in the number of companies focusing on content creation and monetization of that content.

Several IWA board members were on hand for the show, and many prospective members were given information about becoming members. Members and prospective members also had a great chance to meet each other and network together at a cocktail reception hosted by member company TV Worldwide.

In case you missed it, a webcast archive of several key speeches and sessions is available here.

All Web sites are alike
Egalitarianism is the underappreciated watchword of new media. That will eventually cause wholesale changes across the industry.
By David Kirkpatrick, FORTUNE senior editor on CNN Money, June 9, 2006

Because all web sites can do the same things – host text, audio and video – the Web is a level playing field. The quality and relevance of content will determine audience attention to a site, not who is the host of the site.
