THE ADSERTION NETWORK JOINS ARBITRON'S
INTERNET BROADCAST RATINGS
NEW YORK, May 29, 2003 – The Adsertion
Network, an Internet radio advertising sales organization,
joins Arbitron's Internet Broadcast Ratings. The Adsertion
Network was ranked the number five Internet Broadcast Network
with 1,209,314 hours of Total Time Spent Listening (TTSL)
– the sum total of hours tuned by listeners to a given station
or network – for the week of May 12. Live365 was ranked the
number one Internet Broadcast Network with 3,160,752 hours
of TTSL. LAUNCH, the music destination on Yahoo!, was ranked
number two with 3,096,631 hours of TTSL. Chaincast/StreamAudio
was ranked number three with 1,623,812 hours of TTSL. MUSICMATCH
Artist Match was ranked number one with 335,350 hours of TTSL.
JazzFM was ranked number two with 251,737 hours of TTSL. Virgin
Radio was ranked number three with 247,702 hours of TTSL.
As Arbitron's Internet Broadcast Ratings (powered by MeasureCast
technology) transitions to a subscription-only service, some
stations previously reported in the ratings have elected not
to subscribe to the service and will no longer be included.
The ratings may not reflect all tuning for the measured stations
or channels since Arbitron may have received incomplete or
unusable server data.
Demographic Highlights for the Week
of May 12 – May 18
- The peak listening day was Wednesday, May 14, with 19
percent of the week's online listening.
- 77 percent of weekly online listening took place between
5 a.m. and 5 p.m. Pacific time.
- 12 percent of the week's total listening took place during
the weekend.
- 85 percent of the measured listeners were between the
ages of 18 and 54.
- 70 percent of listeners were men; 30 percent were women.
- In the U.S., 34 percent of listeners resided in the South;
30 percent in the West; 18 percent in the Northeast; and
18 percent in the Midwest.

tuned to a given station or network in the reported time period.
2. Cume Persons is an estimate of the total number of unique
listeners who had one or more listening sessions lasting five
minutes or longer during the reported time period. This estimate
is derived using an algorithm that takes into account unique
media player GUIDs, unique IP addresses and other variables
during the reported time period.
3. The 128K stream for Virgin Radio/1215 AM & 105.8 FM
is not currently measured by Arbitron's Internet Broadcast
Ratings.
